CONSULTING AREAS
- CURRICULUM MAPPING: Good curriculum begins by asking teachers to document the content and skills they teach, describe how they assess those skills and then talk with one another about their real classroom practices and how those practices affect students. Based on the work of Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Curriculum Mapping is a process that facilitates this type of curriculum development.
- TEACHER MENTORING: When mentees and mentors work as reciprocal learning partners, teacher mentoring moves beyond mentor training to an on-going support system for year-one mentoring and beyond.
- ASSESSMENT: A balanced assessment system can provide the necessary feedback that helps students learn and allows teachers to improve their practice. All too often assessment is a narrow unfocused process that seems punitive to both students and parents. To truly use assessment results to help students learn and help teachers focus teaching practice, assessment methods must be appropriately matched to content, learning targets, aligned to standards and designed for on-going feedback.
